Why Akal Suria
What makes learning here worth your time
There are many ways to learn AI online. This page explains what we do differently and why those differences matter to the people who study with us.

Six things that shape the Akal Suria experience
A path with clear markers
Every course is a named stage on a single logical progression. You always know where you are, what you have covered, and what is ahead.
Instructors from working roles
Our team comes from applied AI and software development, not only academia. What you learn reflects how things are actually done.
Hands-on work from the start
You write and run real code from the first lesson. The exercises are built around producing working output, not completing tick-box tasks.
Feedback that points forward
Assignment feedback is specific and aimed at what to try next. Mentors engage with your actual work, not template responses.
Accessible course fees
Fees are set in Malaysian Ringgit and reflect what the courses are worth, not what the market might accept. From RM 238 for the first stage.
Content refreshed between cohorts
AI tooling changes quickly. We review and update material between cohorts so what you learn reflects current practice.
Expertise
Instructors who know the field from the inside
The people who teach at Akal Suria have spent years working in AI, not just studying it. Ahmad Syafiq Razali founded the school after eight years in applied machine learning. Nurul Kasim has deployed AI systems in production. Fariz Hamdan still takes on client projects alongside his teaching role.
This means the curriculum reflects real decisions, real trade-offs, and real problems — not idealised textbook scenarios. When something is harder in practice than it sounds in theory, we say so.
- Combined team experience across ML, software, and deployment
- Active practitioners, not solely academic staff
- Curriculum informed by current industry patterns
- Honest description of difficulty and effort at each stage
- Python, scikit-learn, and modern AI frameworks used throughout
- Cloud deployment covered at the advanced stage
- Code reviewed by mentors on actual submissions
- Tool selection explained, not just demonstrated
Technology
Current tools, taught in context
We do not teach tools for their own sake. Each tool or framework in our curriculum has a clear reason for being there, and learners understand that reason before they start using it.
We cover Python from the start, move into machine learning methods using widely-used libraries, and reach real application deployment by the third stage. Choices are explained — which library for which purpose, and why.
Support
Support that is genuinely accessible
Getting stuck is a normal part of learning — particularly in a technical subject. What matters is how quickly and clearly you can get help when it happens.
Mentors at Akal Suria respond to questions within one working day. The community space allows peer discussion as well, and recorded sessions mean you can revisit explanations without having to ask again.
- Mentor responses within one working day
- Community space for peer questions and discussion
- All live sessions recorded for later access
- Capstone reviews with individual mentor attention
- First stage from RM 238 — all materials and sessions included
- No hidden extras — mentor access and recordings are part of the fee
- Instalment arrangements available on request
- Three-stage path available as separate enrolments
Value
Fees that reflect fair value
Course fees are denominated in Malaysian Ringgit and are set at a level we believe reflects what each stage is worth — not what comparable offerings in other markets charge.
All materials, mentor access, live sessions, and recordings are included in the course fee. There is nothing extra to buy to complete the programme.
Outcomes
What learners leave with
By the end of the third stage, learners have built a complete AI application from initial model to deployment. This is not a walkthrough of someone else's project — it is their own work, developed with mentor guidance over twelve weeks.
Even learners who complete only the first stage leave with working Python and a clear understanding of how machine learning fits into the picture — a foundation they can build on independently.
- Stage 1: Working Python and ML foundations
- Stage 2: Portfolio project with mentor review
- Stage 3: Deployed AI application and capstone
- Practical skills applicable to project and professional work
How We Compare
Akal Suria vs. typical online courses
This comparison is based on what learners commonly report when they come to us after trying other approaches.
| What learners often find elsewhere | What Akal Suria provides |
|---|---|
| A catalogue of disconnected modules with no clear order | Three stages that build directly on one another |
| Forum support only — responses can take days or come from other learners who are also stuck | Mentors with working experience who respond within one working day |
| Fees in USD, plus additional charges for live sessions or code reviews | Fees in RM, with all sessions, recordings, and reviews included |
| Projects provided as templates to modify, not work designed by the learner | Portfolio and capstone projects developed independently with guidance |
| Content not updated — learners work with deprecated libraries or outdated methods | Material reviewed and updated between cohorts to reflect current practice |
Distinctive Features
What is particular to Akal Suria
The three-stage path as a single design
The three courses are not independent products that happen to be sold together. They were designed as a sequence from the start. The exit point of each stage is the entry point of the next.
Based in Malaysia, teaching for Malaysia
Our examples, case discussions, and community reflect the Malaysian technology context — not exclusively Western markets. Fees are in RM and set for local learners.
Honest descriptions before enrolment
Each course page describes what it asks of learners — time commitment, prior knowledge, and what you will produce. You can make an informed decision before you pay.
Small cohort sizes
We keep cohort sizes manageable so that mentors can give real attention to each learner's work. A live session with forty people asking questions is very different to one with twelve.
